Recycling glass wool as a fluxing agent in the production of clay- and waste-based ceramics

چکیده

Concerns about the management of glass wool waste, approximately 800,000 tons which are generated annually in Europe, increasing. To test feasibility incorporating this waste into ceramic materials, study examined reuse as a fluxing agent production clay- and waste-based building ceramics. Commercial kaolin clay two industrial residues, namely quartz-feldspar sand (QFS) copper slag (CS), were selected precursors. Six compositions prepared, three samples containing counterparts without wool, then sintered at 750, 850, 950 °C. The materials prepared ceramics characterized by employing x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), differential calorimetry (DSC), water absorption, apparent density, compressive flexural strength tests. Interestingly, results indicated that 10 wt% QFS, CS, mixtures created better physical, mechanical, microstructural properties. This was ascribed to melting reactions observed from 700 QFS °C achieved values high 117 MPa absorption percentages low 2%. However, effect less significant CS- kaolin-based ceramics, likely due differences their chemical composition, mineralogy, particle-size distribution. emphasize potential other streams could contribute improving line social sustainability objectives.

the effectiveness of strategy-based instruction in teaching english as a second or foreign language: a meta-analysis of experimental studies

a large number of single research studies on the effects of strategy-based instruction (sbi) in teaching english as a foreign or second language has been conducted so far. however, the lack of a comprehensive meta-analysis targeting the effectiveness of english language sbi is observed. moreover, the findings of experimental studies regarding the context of the english language, proficiency lev...

Use of vitrified urban incinerator waste as raw material for production of sintered glass - ceramics

The crystallisation behaviour of vitrified industrial waste (fly ash from domiciliary solid waste incineration) was examined by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffractometry and scanning electron microscopy. It was demonstrated that powder processing route was required to transform the vitrified industrial waste into glass-ceramics products. Time-Temperature-Transformation (TTT) diagrams ...

Recycling of iron foundry sand and glass waste as raw material for production of whiteware.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the production feasibility of triaxial whiteware using sand from cast iron moulds as a raw material instead of silica, and recycled glass in place of feldspar. Formulations were prepared using sand, glass waste, and white-firing clay such that only 50% of the composition was virgin material (clay). The ceramic bodies were formed by pressing and fired at...
